Braves Hold Off Brewers in Little League Classic

Atlanta Avoids Sweep

The Atlanta Braves closed out their series against the Milwaukee Brewers with a much-needed 4-2 victory Sunday night in the Little League Classic at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The win allowed Atlanta to avoid a three game sweep and gave the Braves a positive finish to a difficult road trip.

Atlanta entered the game looking to snap a five game losing streak after dropping the first two games of the series. The Braves’ offense had struggled throughout the weekend, scoring just one run in each of the first two games. Sunday brought a different result as Atlanta consistently found ways to capitalize on its opportunities.

Mahle Delivers Strong Start

Tyler Mahle provided Atlanta with the pitching performance it needed. The right-hander worked five innings and allowed one earned run while striking out four. Mahle repeatedly worked out of trouble and kept Milwaukee’s lineup from building a big inning.

The Brewers answered with a run in the third inning, but Atlanta continued to battle and eventually regained control. Milwaukee finished 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 runners, leaving several opportunities on the table.

Harris Provides Insurance

Mauricio Dubón played an important role in Atlanta’s offensive attack, delivering an RBI double and later scoring the eventual winning run. Sean Murphy also came through with an RBI hit as the Braves built a 3-1 advantage.

Milwaukee refused to go away, cutting the deficit to 3-2 in the eighth inning on Luis Lara’s RBI triple. The pressure increased on Atlanta heading into the ninth, but Michael Harris II provided the insurance the Braves desperately needed.

Harris launched a solo home run in the ninth inning, his 21st homer of the season, pushing Atlanta’s lead back to two runs. The home run proved to be one of the biggest moments of the game.

Iglesias Closes It Out

Raisel Iglesias was called upon to protect the lead and delivered. The Braves closer recorded a four out save, navigating a tense ninth inning to secure the victory.

The 4-2 win gave Atlanta a much-needed boost after a challenging stretch. The Braves now return home with the Dodgers coming to town, while the Brewers move on after winning the first two games of the series.

For Atlanta, Sunday’s victory was about more than just avoiding a sweep. It gave the Braves momentum heading into their next series and showed the team can still find ways to win tight games when its pitching and timely hitting come together.
