When Daysbel Hernandez exited Wednesday night’s game with an injury, it was initially reported as a pinky injury and not believe to be serious. However, his official injury designation is much more ominous, with the Braves placing him on the IL with right forearm inflammation.

Now, sometimes, right forearm inflammation is just that, requiring nothing more than a little time off. And other times, it’s the precursor for a much more damning issue.
Hopefully, Daysbel Herndandez’s situation falls into the former category. The last thing the Braves need is to lose one of their high leverage relief arms. Atlanta’s bullpen has already been among the worst in baseball, and despite his walk issues, Hernandez has been the team’s #1 set up man, recording a 2.22 ERA over 25 appearances. Losing him for a significant amount of time would be a brutal blow for a club that really can’t afford anymore bad news.
