The Atlanta Braves are set to play the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon. The team announced multiple roster moves before the game. Right-handed pitchers Carlos Carrasco and JR Ritchie were selected to the MLB roster. Left-handed pitcher Dylan Dodd was placed on the injured list due to left thoracic spine inflammation. Right-handed pitcher Didier Fuentes, who pitched on Wednesday, was optioned to Triple-A as well.

Losing Dodd to the IL is far from ideal. The Braves have battled pitching injuries all season. Nevertheless, now Carrasco and Ritchie are set to receive MLB opportunities.

Ritchie is the Braves’ No. 2 overall prospect. The 22-year-old has pitched to a stellar 0.99 ERA across five starts at Triple-A this season. He will make his MLB debut once he appears in a game with the Braves.

Carrasco, meanwhile, is a 39-year-old veteran right-handed pitcher who once finished fourth in Cy Young voting. He has had a strong MLB career. Carrasco has turned in a 1.71 ERA in four outings at Triple-A in 2026. He is now looking to make an impact with the Braves.

While injuries have been a problem for Atlanta as mentioned, they could be getting some reinforcements back soon. Both Spencer Strider and Sean Murphy are currently participating in injury rehab assignments. As long as no setbacks occur, both players could end up returning fairly soon.

The Braves will enter Thursday’s game against the Nationals with a 17-8 overall record. Atlanta leads the National League East, as the ball club is five games ahead of the second place Miami Marlins.

Thursday’s Braves-Nationals clash is scheduled for 1:05 PM EST.
