Braves LHP Drew Smyly goes on IL with forearm inflammation

Atlanta Braves left-hander Drew Smyly was supposed to start the Friday afternoon game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field but instead was scratched from the lineup and placed on the 10-day injured list with left forearm inflammation.

Per Sterling Bright of the official MLB website, Atlanta recalled right-hander Kyle Wright and infielder Johan Camargo from its alternate training site in corresponding roster moves.

"If we were at the end of the year, we probably just keep going," Braves manager Brian Snitker said while explaining the club believes Smyly will only miss one start. "This is just kind of erring on the side of caution. There was enough there that you know there was a little concern when he was throwing, but we feel like missing a start will rectify everything and get him back good."

In two starts this month, Smyly, 31, tallied a record of 0-0 with a 5.73 ERA, 11 strikeouts and a walk across 11 innings of work. Atlanta began Friday at 5-8 overall and fourth in the National League East standings.
