Braves Make Multiple Moves After Trade Deadline

The Atlanta Braves finalized a series of roster moves Monday following the MLB trade deadline, activating several key players while adding newly acquired veterans to the active roster. The club also cleared space with multiple corresponding transactions, including designating infielder Jorge Mateo for assignment.

Atlanta announced that Ha-Seong Kim and Sean Murphy were reinstated from the injured list, while trade deadline additions Lane Thomas, Tyler Mahle and Brent Suter officially joined the active roster. To complete the moves, the Braves designated Mateo for assignment and optioned right-handers James Karinchak and JR Ritchie to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves entered Monday with a 67-45 record, leading the National League East by eight games as they continued strengthening their roster for the stretch run.

Kim returns after appearing in 27 games this season, batting .068 with no home runs, three RBIs and one stolen base after missing significant time because of injury. Murphy is also back after appearing in just four games, batting .071 with no home runs and no RBIs before landing on the injured list.

Among the newcomers, Lane Thomas gives Atlanta another experienced outfielder after batting .232 with 10 home runs, 37 RBIs, 16 doubles and seven stolen bases across 97 games this season. Mahle and Suter also join the pitching staff after arriving in separate deadline deals.

The corresponding moves reshaped Atlanta's roster. Mateo was designated for assignment to create room on the 40-man roster, while Karinchak and Ritchie were optioned to Triple-A as the Braves adjusted their active pitching staff.

With healthy regulars returning and deadline acquisitions now available, Atlanta has added depth on both sides of the ball as it looks to protect its National League East lead. The latest transactions leave manager Walter Weiss with additional options throughout the lineup and pitching staff heading into the final two months of the regular season.
