The Atlanta Braves have been rolling along at the top of the National League East after winning eight of their past 10 games. Atlanta now enters another tough series with the Detroit Tigers and will have their left-handed specialist unavailable out of the bullpen. Dylan Lee will head to the Braves’ paternity list, while the team announced that they recalled Didier Fuentes to fill his spot.
Lee has been a workhorse for the Braves this season, already appearing in 14 games. Through 13 innings, he allowed just six hits, two earned runs, and racked up 13 strikeouts. He also has an impressive two walks over those 13 innings. Atlanta, while happy for the reason that Lee is away, will be hoping they can get their elite lefty back in the bullpen sooner rather than later.
Fuentes started four games for the Braves in 2024, allowing 23 hits and a whopping 20 earned runs over just 13 innings. He didn’t fare much better when he was in the majors at times this season, as he allowed five earned runs over seven innings, making one start and one appearance out of the bullpen.
The Braves still have some lefties remaining in the bullpen, but none with the same success as Lee this season. The good news is that the Tigers have been hitting lefties well recently, which could ease the pain of not having Lee available.
The Braves also announced that Ha-Seong Kim will make his first rehabilitation appearance on Tuesday night in Double-A, who has been out of the Braves lineup all season after surgery on a torn tendon in his right middle finger in January.
