Braves make roster move ahead of series with Reds

Ahead of their series with the Reds, the Braves made a minor roster move, recalling Anthony Molina from Gwinnett. In a corresponding transaction, Carlos Carrasco has been designated for assignment.

This move is a response to Carlos Carrasco pitching four innings a couple of days ago in the Braves 8-0 loss to the Red Sox. The addition gives Atlanta a fresh arm for their weekend series in Cincinnati — a place where games have a tendency to get a little crazy in such a small ballpark. Molina has made one appearance so far this season for the Braves, tossing two scoreless innings.

This is about the 20th time Carlos Carrasco has been designated for assignment this season. He’s on the Jesse Chavez track at this point, and like Chavez, Carrasco has actually been decent when called upon. Over 7.1 innings, he’s only allowed two runs — good for a 2.45 ERA. Hopefully, he clears waivers and sticks around as organizational depth.
