Braves make roster moves amid series with Mets

Amid their series with the Mets, the Braves made a minor roster move.

JR Ritchie is heading back to Gwinnett after tossing three scoreless innings in Saturday night’s win , with Carlos Carrasco taking his place on the active roster.

Carrasco has been designated for assignment about 50 times at this point, but nobody ever claims him and he keeps making his way back. In seven appearances for the Braves this season, he’s recorded a respectable 3.68 ERA.

The move gives the club another fresh arm as they are in the middle of a stretch of 12 games in 12 days heading into the All-Star break. It also allows JR Ritchie to continue working as a starting pitcher down in Gwinnett, which is what’s best for his long-term development. The Braves will likely need him again in the second half of the season.
