Braves' Matt Olson joins exclusive club after 2025 season

The 2025 Atlanta Braves were disappointing, to put it mildly, and it wasn’t due to a lack of signings or acquiring talent. Injuries to key personnel like Austin Riley, Ronald Acuna Jr. and others over the course of the season were too much for the Braves to withstand.

One player who hasn’t been as unfortunate as the rest and has been the epitome of health is first baseman Matt Olson, who was  one of six players who played in all 162 games this season. Rafael Devers (163), Kyle Schwarber, Brent Rooker, Elly De La Cruz and Pete Alonso also played in every game, with Alonso having back-to-back seasons of playing 162.

Matt Olson joins an exclusive club

If it wasn’t already an accomplishment for Olson to play in every game in 2025, it’s more impressive that this marked his fourth consecutive season of playing all 162 games, and the fifth time in his career (2018) he has done so. In doing this, Olson joins an exclusive club of 15 players, including Hall of Famers Cal Ripken Jr. and Jeff Bagwell and all-time hits leader Pete Rose, who have had four or more seasons of playing in every game.

According to MLB.com’s Dylan Svoboda, Olson ties former major league outfielder Juan Pierre with five seasons of playing in every game. Pierre had five consecutive seasons (2003-07) of 162 games played, with the then Florida Marlins, the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Matt Olson is the epitome of health for Atlanta Braves

Olson has been the epitome of health for the Braves after countless players have been shuffled on and off the injured list throughout the season. For manager Brian Snitker, knowing that he can pencil in Olson at the top of his lineup day and night gives him and Braves fans the hope that at least one run will be put on the board, with Olson having 146 home runs during this stretch.

Olson has a way to go before he even sniffs Ripken's 2,632 consecutive game streak (1982-98), but he is halfway to tying Ripken with the most 162-game seasons, 10, which seems more possible to obtain.
