Braves' Ozzie Albies Makes Announcement on Friday

The Atlanta Braves are looking to bounce back in 2026 after missing out on the MLB playoffs this year. To do so, they will need rebound performances from several key players, including second baseman Ozzie Albies, who faces a pivotal season ahead.

The Braves picked up his $7 million club option early in the offseason, banking on the possibility that he can return to form. Across 157 games in 2025, Albies posted a .240 batting average, .306 on-base percentage, .671 OPS, 16 home runs and 74 RBIs.

At 28 years old, he still has time to rediscover the level of play that once made him an All-Star and Silver Slugger.

However, the regression is concerning, and another down year could raise serious questions about his future in Atlanta.

In the meantime, Albies has temporarily shifted his focus away from baseball as he continues to grow the Ozzie Albies Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to animal rescue, adoption and welfare.

He supports the foundation through merchandise sales tied to his shirt company, while also sharing another personal passion in his extensive aquarium collection.

Recently, the foundation announced a giveaway of Go Fish cards signed by Albies. The book features illustrations of some of his favorite fish from his personal collection, offering fans a unique glimpse into his off-field interests.

Albies highlighted the gesture on his Instagram story, encouraging supporters to take part and continue backing his charitable efforts.

Albies will be a central figure in Atlanta’s hopes for 2026. He has spent his entire nine-year career with the Braves since making his MLB debut in 2017, becoming a familiar presence both in the clubhouse and on the field.

While his bat has cooled in recent seasons, he continues to provide solid defense up the middle and remains capable of producing at a high level.

Albies was a key contributor to the Braves’ 2021 World Series championship run and owns two Silver Sluggers and three All-Star selections. Atlanta’s path back to October will hinge on his ability to rebound.
