Braves sign two players, including versatile bench piece
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

There hasn’t been a busier man than Alex Anthopoulos this offseason, and that continued on Friday night, as he inked two players to one-year contracts — Huascar Ynoa and versatile utility man Luis Guillorme.

Huascar Ynoa was tendered a contract, so this is just him avoiding arbitration. He was always going to be a part of the 40-man roster come Opening Day.

The addition is Luis Guillorme. Braves fans should remember him from the New York Mets, where he’s spent the last six seasons. Guillorme is a versatile infielder that doesn’t offer much pop — only five career home runs in 721 at-bats — but he does hit for a decent average and can get on base.

Guillorme will likely serve as the team’s utility infielder, so we will see what kind of ripple effect this will have on David Fletcher, who was expected to assume that role after being acquired in a trade from the Angels earlier in the offseason. Perhaps they both make the Opening Day roster; however, their skill sets are a bit repetitive.
