An underrated Milwaukee Brewers prospect, whose stock had been significantly rising after a breakout 2025 season and dominating showing in the Venezuelan Winter League, has seen that progress come to a screeching halt due to an injury sustained in Winter League baseball. As a result, a delayed start to Spring Training is likely, which is unfortunate as he was recently announced as a non-roster invitee to big league camp.
Originally signed as a teenage prospect in 2018, utility player Eduardo Garcia finally has broken out over the past year. In 2025, he worked his way up to Double-A, slashing a combined .243/.330/.395 between stints with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Biloxi Shuckers. He also stolen 41 bases, a career best by a wide margin.
Garcia continued that momentum into winter, electing to play baseball in his home country while affiliated ball in the United States is in their off-season. The results were amazing, as through 34 games he had a .324/.395/.581 slash line with six home runs and seven doubles.
Unfortunately, injury has now sidelined him. Per Jim Goulart of Brewer Fanatic, a non-displaced forearm fracture sustained on January 11, 2026 has him out, and will likely impact his start to spring training, which is just over a month away.
Longtime #Brewers farmhand 23-year-old INF/OF Eduardo Garcia, a non-roster invitee to big league camp, suffered a non-displaced forearm fracture on a HBP in a Venezuelan Winter League game on 1/11. Will likely impact the beginning of his spring training https://t.co/Ci3DUv9zhK
