Brewers Announce Jackson Chourio News After Six Straight Missed Games

The Milwaukee Brewers are in the midst of a four-game winning streak and have extended their NL Central lead over the Chicago Cubs to three games.

Milwaukee is aiming to clinch its fourth division title in five seasons and has been thriving lately despite not having young outfielder Jackson Chourio at the top of the order.

The 21-year-old made history before stepping onto the field when the Brewers signed him to an eight-year, $82 million contract prior to his MLB debut—a record-breaking deal for a player with no major league experience.

That gamble has paid off, as Chourio has proven to be worth the investment in just two seasons.

Jackson Chourio Injury Update

During a July 29 matchup against the Cubs, Chourio suffered a right hamstring strain while legging out a triple, leading to his immediate removal from the game.

The injury was initially described as a spasm, but further evaluation revealed a strain, resulting in a 10-day injured list stint and a PRP injection.

Ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves, the Brewers announced that Chourio is improving with treatment and his estimated timeline is 2–4 weeks.

Milwaukee Hoping Chourio Returns at Full Strength for Postseason

This is excellent news for Milwaukee, as the timeline suggests Chourio could return in the second half and ramp up before the postseason.

In 106 games, he’s posted a .276 batting average, .786 OPS, 17 home runs, and 67 RBIs while playing elite defense and stealing 18 bases.

Although his impact is hard to replicate, the Brewers have primarily replaced him in the outfield with Blake Perkins. Perkins has been a bench bat since debuting in 2023 and hasn’t provided enough offensive production to become an everyday player. In limited action this year, he’s batting .244 with an .809 OPS over 15 games.

The Brewers will hope Chourio continues to progress in his recovery as they sit at 68–44 with the best record in MLB.
