The Milwaukee Brewers have always been overlooked, but they have also been consistent over the past several seasons in surpassing people’s projections.
Former National League Most Valuable Player Christian Yelich knows all about it, having been with Milwaukee for eight seasons — and counting.
Yelich recently expressed his belief in his team going into the 2026 MLB season, where the Brewers will once again defy whatever the naysayers are saying about the club.
“We got a really good clubhouse with a lot of guys that know how to win and care about winning,” the 34-year-old Yelich said (via MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM). “And I think that’s a big reason why we exceed expectations every year is because guys just know how to win, make winning plays, do what they gotta do to make sure we come out on top every night.
And I think it’s a big reason why we always exceed expectations. And we’re always kind of projected going into the season to not be very good or an afterthought, and we surprise some people. So kind of the same story this year, which is fine, and we believe in the guys that we got here, and looking forward to see what happens.”
The Brewers have lost some talent in the offseason, most notably pitcher Freddy Peralta. They also traded Caleb Durbin and Isaac Collins, but Milwaukee has always found a way to win with whatever roster they have put together season after season.
And with a two-time NL Manager of the Year in Pat Murphy making decisions, the Brewers should remain a team to watch in 2026.
