Brewers Designate Thomas Pannone For Assignment

The Brewers announced that left-hander DL Hall has been reinstated from the 15-day injured list. In a corresponding move, fellow lefty Thomas Pannone has been designated for assignment. The club’s 40-man roster count drops from 39 to 38.

Pannone, 32, was just added to the roster two days ago. He started Wednesday’s contest and allowed two runs over three innings. It seems the Brewers only wanted him to make that one spot start, perhaps to give their other starters a bit of extra rest. The team was off yesterday but they begin a stretch of 17 straight tonight.

The lefty will likely be on waivers in the coming days. With the trade deadline coming up on Monday, there will be a lot of roster movement throughout the league in the next 72 hours. Perhaps a team with some openings with find a use for Pannone.

Prior to getting called up, he was in Triple-A. He logged 72 innings over 16 appearances with a 4.13 earned run average, 18.9% strikeout rate, 7.3% walk rate and 41% ground ball rate. He has 121 2/3 big leagues innings on his track record with a 5.47 ERA, though most of that came with the Blue Jays way back in 2018 and 2019. He also pitched 165 innings in the KBO in 2022 and 2023 with a 3.49 ERA. He was in the minors in 2024 but missed the 2025 season entirely due to flexor surgery.
