The Milwaukee Brewers have one of the deepest bullpens in Major League Baseball, and soon enough, it could arguably be too deep.
Left-hander Rob Zastryzny started the season on the injured list after he tweaked his shoulder pitching for Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic. But he started a rehab assignment on Tuesday, per the official transactions log, and threw a scoreless inning for Triple-A Nashville.
Whenever Zastryzny's rehab assignment ends, which can be no later than three weeks after Tuesday, something is going to have to give in the Brewers bullpen, assuming there are no other injuries. That decision, as of right now, frankly isn't obvious.

Zastryzny seemed like he had the inside track to an opening day roster spot before his injury, but that had a lot to do with his lack of remaining minor-league options. That now means that when his rehab assignment ends, he has to go back to the major league roster or be put on waivers.
If the Brewers don't want to risk losing Zastryzny, who they re-acquired in a cash trade last May with the New York Yankees, they'll need to option someone else, assuming the pitchers all stay healthy. There are four lefties in the bullpen already, so presumably that someone could be DL Hall, who was once a highly touted prospect and has four strikeouts in his first two innings this year.
The other three lefties -- Aaron Ashby, Jared Koenig, and Angel Zerpa -- would likely have to get hurt to be removed from the active roster at any point this season. And although righty Grant Anderson has an option remaining, it's hard to see Milwaukee taking him out of the picture to go with five lefties.
Meanwhile, righty Jake Woodford is the only other guy in the picture with no options remaining, so at some point, the Brewers might have to choose between keeping him around or Zastryzny.
The Brewers are probably quietly hoping this issue solves itself somehow before they have to make a decision. They might have to get creative with some sort of trade as well if it comes down to a situation where someone is bound for waivers anyway.
