The Milwaukee Brewers have been rolling lately, currently sitting at 56-33 ahead of Tuesday afternoon’s game against the divisional rival St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers are looking to build off the success of last year, when they cruised to the top seed in the NL but ultimately were swept out of the playoffs by the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in ugly fashion in the NLCS.
On Tuesday afternoon, the team provided a tough injury update on a key member of their infield prior to the Cardinals clash, noting that David Hamilton had been moved to the ten-day injured list with a strained left hamstring. Hamilton suffered the injury during Monday’s game against St. Louis, which the Brewers won by a narrow margin of 4-3. Fans will certainly be hoping that the talented infielder is able to return sooner rather than later, and the fact that the All-Star break is coming up is certainly beneficial in minimizing the number of games that will be missed due to the injury.
Additionally, the Brewers also announced that Greg Jones had been selected from Triple-A Nashville, and that outfielder Brandon Lockridge had been transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Overall, the Brewers have done a strong job of holding down the fort in the midst of other injury absences this year, and they’ll need to do the same now that Hamilton will be out of the lineup for the foreseeable future. The Brewers will have multiple representatives at the upcoming MLB All-Star game in Philadelphia, including pitcher Jacob Misiorowski.
In any case, the Brewers will next hit the field on Tuesday afternoon for another game against the Cardinals, beginning at 2:15 pm ET.
