The Milwaukee Brewers’ season came to an end on Friday after being swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. Despite the loss, the Brewers still took a massive step forward in 2025, winning a franchise-record 97 games and claiming their fourth NL Central division title in the last five years.

Milwaukee featured one of the deepest lineups in the league throughout the regular season, yet could not get anything going over the four losses to the Dodgers, scoring just four total runs. The Brewers’ staff limited Los Angeles to 15 runs across four games, but unfortunately for Milwaukee, the offense could not provide any run support.

As Milwaukee prepares for the offseason, the organization has continued to develop quality arms on the big-league roster while picking up pitchers on waivers, and demonstrated that again in 2025. However, one of those pitchers decided to leave the organization on Friday. According to the MiLB transactions log, right-hander Erick Fedde elected free agency.

Fedde signed with Milwaukee on Aug. 27 after an unsuccessful stint with the Atlanta Braves. He looked much more competent with Milwaukee, posting a 3.38 ERA in seven appearances, yet the team featured so many talented arms that he was designated for assignment, which he accepted on September 30 to join the Nashville Sounds.

Fedde likely elected free agency for that reason, due to limited opportunities with a playoff team like the Brewers. The 32-year-old veteran will look for a chance to get his career back on track. Fedde has logged eight seasons in MLB, playing for five organizations. He struggled through the first six seasons of his career before heading to Korea to play in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) in 2023. When he returned in 2024, he had the best year of his career, pitching for the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, owning a 3.30 ERA in 31 starts while striking out 154 hitters.

However, he was cut from St. Louis in 2025 due to poor performance and then briefly started for Atlanta as well before Milwaukee decided to transition him to a reliever. It is unknown whether Fedde is committed to being a reliever moving forward or if he still believes he can start.
