The Milwaukee Brewers made a pitching change ahead of Wednesday's series finale against the San Francisco Giants, selecting the contract of left-hander Thomas Pannone from Triple-A Nashville to make a spot start. In a corresponding move, the club optioned right-hander Garrett Stallings to Nashville.

Pannone returns to the major leagues after completing his recovery from a left forearm flexor tendon tear that sidelined him throughout the 2025 season. The 32-year-old earned the opportunity after rebuilding his workload with Nashville during the first half of this year.

Milwaukee's decision also gives left-hander Shane Drohan additional rest after his innings total climbed significantly compared to last season following shoulder surgery.

Pannone has made 16 appearances, including 15 starts, for Triple-A Nashville this season, posting a 4.13 ERA across 72.0 innings with 57 strikeouts and 22 walks. His promotion provides manager Pat Murphy with another experienced arm while preserving the workload of the Brewers' regular rotation.

Because Milwaukee had room on its 40-man roster, the club was able to add Pannone without making an additional roster-clearing move before Wednesday's game.

Stallings heads back to Triple-A after serving as the Brewers' lone reliever in Monday's 3-0 loss to San Francisco, covering two innings while allowing just one walk. His option gives Milwaukee a fresh arm for the series finale.

The Brewers enter Wednesday with a 67-40 record, leading the National League Central by six games over the Chicago Cubs . After evening the series with an 8-2 victory Tuesday behind rookie Logan Henderson, Milwaukee will turn to Pannone against Giants ace Logan Webb as it looks to secure another series win before Monday's trade deadline.
