Brewers Pitcher Set to Begin Rehab Assignment on Wednesday

The Milwaukee Brewers are getting closer to adding another arm back to their pitching staff. Left-hander Rob Zastryzny is scheduled to resume his minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Nashville.

Zastryzny is expected to pitch one inning for the Nashville Sounds as he continues working back from a left shoulder issue. The outing represents another important step after his previous rehab progression was interrupted.

David Gasper of Brew Crew Ball reported the update Tuesday. Zastryzny has spent the season on the 60-day Injured List after making 10 appearances for Milwaukee earlier in the year.

The 34-year-old lefty posted a 2.16 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with nine strikeouts across 8.1 innings before his injury. If he can complete Wednesday’s outing without an issue, the Brewers could have another bullpen option available for the final weeks of the regular season.

Milwaukee is also monitoring the progress of right-hander Bryse Wilson. Wilson has advanced to throwing out to 90 feet without any problems and remains on track for a potential return in the middle to latter part of September.

Wilson has been effective when available this season, posting a 2.55 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 22 strikeouts over 24.2 innings across 12 games. His ability to cover multiple innings could be particularly useful for manager Pat Murphy down the stretch.
