The Milwaukee Brewers are no stranger to being overlooked in preseason projections. The Crew have won the NL Central the last two seasons and have won three of the last four. Last season, they were projected to win 79 games after trading away Corbin Burnes.

But yet again, the small-market Milwaukee Brewers were able to exceed expectations, winning 93 games and winning the NL Central by 10 games.

This offseason, the Brewers lost two more all-stars, with Willy Adames signing a lucrative deal with the San Francisco Giants and trading closer Devin Williams to the Yankees.

Baseball Prospectus (PECOTA) its ran simulations and projects the Brewers to finish the upcoming season with 80.2 wins and 81.8 losses, placing them in second in the NL Central behind the Chicago Cubs, who are projected to finish the season with 90.6 wins and 71.4 losses.

Behind the Brewers are the Cardinals (78.6-83.4), Pirates (75.1-86.9), and the Reds in last (73.5-88.5).

Along with the record projection, PECOTA also give the Brewers a 9.4% chance to win the NL Central. The Cubs have a projected 79.4% chance to win the division.

The simulations also map out the chances the Crew move onto each round of the playoffs. According the to projections, the Brewers have a 16.7% chance to get a wild card spot, giving them an overall 26.1% chance to make the postseason. The Crew have just an 11.2% chance to make the division series and a 0.6% chance to make the World Series.

The Brewers didn't go out and make any big moves during the offseason while losing Williams and Adames. So it's easy to understand why the Brewers are bring looked over. The Cubs, on the other hand, landed Kyle Tucker and Ryan Pressly from the Astros and also signed former Brewer, Colin Rea.

Preseason projections are not the end-all-be-all by any means, but at the very least give us an idea of where teams could finish the 2025 season.

The pitchers and catchers for the Milwaukee Brewers report to spring training next week on February 12th while the rest of the squad will join them in Arizona on February 18th for the first full squad workout.

The Crew open the 2025 regular season on the road against the New York Yankees, potentially facing former closer, Devin Williams.
