The Milwaukee Brewers are in the middle of a closely contested battle against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLCS. Catcher William Contreras has been red hot through the playoffs so far, and he proved to be a difference-maker in the bottom of the fifth inning on Monday after hitting another postseason home run.

The 28-year-old tied the game up 4-4 (at the time) with a solo shot to deep center field. It was a no-doubt home run for Contreras, keeping his Brewers firmly in the game against the Dodgers in Game 2. It was his third home run in this year’s playoffs.

The seven-year veteran has been lights out in the playoffs so far. In the club’s first five games of the postseason (3-1 series win over the San Diego Padres and Game 1 of the NLCS vs. the Dodgers), Contreras had recorded six hits, two home runs, and two RBIs through 19 at-bats. He’s added three more hits, another home run, and three more RBIs in Monday’s contest.

He went into the postseason as one of the Brewers’ most consistent options in the lineup. Contreras ended the regular season with a .270 batting average and .341 OBP while totaling 153 hits, 18 home runs, and 94 RBIs (career-high) through 566 at-bats. The three-time All-Star also plays as a consistent defender for Milwaukee, owning an impressive 100.00% fielding percentage while leading MLB with 48 assists.

There is plenty of time remaining in the playoffs for William Contreras to continue his hot streak. The Brewers entered Game 2 with a 1-0 lead in the series and are three wins away from clinching a spot in the World Series.
