Brice Turang has proven to be a true gamer for the Milwaukee Brewers. He plays with intensity, but under control and while maintaining steady composure regardless of the moment. With the athleticism to handle almost any position on the field, Turang remains locked in at second base this season as he is just a year removed from earning a Platinum Glove.
At the plate, he’s taken a significant step forward, particularly in the power department. Fueled by a massive August, Turang has now launched 17 home runs and carries a .447 slugging percentage. His versatility extends to the lineup as well, having now hit in every spot in the batting order this year, which is something only five other players in Brewers history have accomplished.
After batting third on Saturday night against the Pirates, Turang locked in the achievement of hitting in every spot in the lineup this year. Lorenzo Cain (2021), Bill Hall (2005), Bobby Mitchell (1975), and Dave May (1974) are the other four to do this, per Mike Vassalo of Brewers media relations.
Turang has spent most of the season batting leadoff, appearing in the No. 1 spot 63 times, far more than any other position in the lineup. The next most frequent spot is seventh, where he’s hit 25 times. He’s also batted fifth (17 games), ninth (14), sixth (7), second (5), eighth (3), and third and fourth once each.
One of the main reasons Turang has shuffled around the lineup is the wave of injuries to key teammates. Jackson Chourio, Rhys Hoskins, Christian Yelich, and Joey Ortiz have all missed time, while Sal Frelick also dealt with a meniscus issue that kept him out at times.
No matter where Turang is placed in the lineup, he continues to deliver for the Brewers. His ability to produce consistently, whether leading off or hitting deeper in the order, makes him an invaluable and versatile offensive asset.
