Bryce Eldridge Development Leaves Giants With Season-Ending Decision 

Eldridge was a late scratch before Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after suffering the head laceration. He had participated in pregame activities before the injury occurred.

The 21-year-old has been one of San Francisco’s more productive young hitters this season. He has batted .269 with 17 home runs, 23 doubles and 57 RBI across 107 games.

With the Giants already eliminated from postseason contention, the team has little reason to rush Eldridge back if he is not ready to play. His status will continue to be monitored as San Francisco prepares for the final week of the season.

The Giants also dealt with another injury Sunday when Jung Hoo Lee exited after fouling a pitch off his groin area in the sixth inning. Lee finished 0-for-2 before leaving the game and will be evaluated.

San Francisco finished its road schedule with a 28-53 record after Sunday’s 3-1 loss to the Dodgers. The defeat completed a three-game sweep for Los Angeles, which had already clinched the NL West.

For Eldridge, the priority is now determining when he is ready to return rather than pushing him into the lineup for the final games of the season. If he cannot return soon, the Giants could simply give him additional recovery time heading into the offseason.
