Bryce Eldridge Misses Giants Game After Freak Accident 

The exact circumstances surrounding Eldridge’s injury were not immediately clear, but the laceration forced him to miss the game. The 21-year-old had participated in pregame activities before the late lineup change.

Eldridge had been one of San Francisco’s most productive hitters during September. He entered Friday’s game with a .948 OPS and 14 RBIs over his previous 15 games.

The rookie has also put together a strong overall season since reaching the majors. Eldridge is batting .269 with 23 doubles, 17 home runs and 57 RBIs in 107 games.

He has 104 hits and 50 runs scored across 386 at-bats while posting a .364 on-base percentage and .461 slugging percentage. His .825 OPS has given the Giants another important young bat to build around.

San Francisco entered Friday at 64-90 and had already been eliminated from postseason contention. The Giants ultimately fell 8-2 to the Dodgers.

With only a handful of games remaining, Eldridge’s availability will be worth monitoring as San Francisco finishes its season.
