Buster Posey Reportedly Playing Major Role in Ex-Red Sox Star Rafael Devers' Decisions

Many Boston Red Sox fans were displeased when Rafael Devers held his press conference with the San Francisco Giants and stated that he’d play anywhere.

After not suggesting the same with the Red Sox, it was a bit of a slight. However, Devers has his reasons to feel the way he does, and ultimately, that's behind both parties.

However, that hasn't stopped Red Sox fans from wondering why he has a change of heart.

According to ESPN's Tim Kurkjian, it's possible that Buster Posey, the Giants' president of baseball operations, could be the man behind this.

“I would be shocked if he does anything other than ‘I’ll take ground balls wherever you want me to take them, because Buster Posey is going to sit down in front of him,” Kurkjian said, per NESN.

“Future Hall of Famer, three-time world champion, the best position player on three world championship teams, MVP, batting champ, and a guy who speaks softly, he doesn’t speak very often, but if that guy sits down and looks you in the eye and says, ‘Look, we have a chance to win here and we need you to be great, and we need you to do what we tell you to do,’ I think Rafael Devers will do whatever he is asked to do,” Kurkjian said.

As the legendary Kurkjian noted, Posey is one of the best players in Giants history, if not the best outside of Barry Bonds.

He won multiple World Series there, was loved by the community, and much more.

Devers, who is similar to Boston, wants to continue to be a fan favorite.

If he wants to learn from anyone, there's no one better to listen to than Posey.
