The New York Yankees will host the Cleveland Guardians in the Bronx for Game 2 of the ALCS tonight.

Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians’ offense was shut down in the first game of this series against the Yankees. They could not get anything going against Carlos Rodon last night. Unfortunately, it might not get any easier for them tonight, as they will face Yankees ace Gerrit Cole.

The current Guardians lineup has faced Cole a total of 127 times. They have collectively hit .236 off of Cole. Jose Ramirez has the most at-bats against Cole, going 12-34 with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, and seven RBIs.

Josh Naylor is 6-25 with three home runs and five RBIs against Cole, while Andres Giminez is 5-22 with two doubles and an RBI. Lane Thomas has been a standout performer in the playoffs, boasting a .273 batting average, two home runs, nine RBIs, and two runs scored.

Similarly, David Fry has put in a solid performance, hitting .263 with a home run, five RBIs, and three runs scored. Steven Kwan has also been consistent, maintaining a .480 batting average with an RBI and six runs scored in the playoffs.

Overall, the Guardians have collectively achieved a .225 batting average in the playoffs, with five home runs and 21 runs scored across six games.

Their lineup will need to play better and generate some runs if they want any chance in this series. It will be very difficult for them to comeback from a 2-0 series deficit.

New York Yankees

The Yankees have not been getting the MVP performance from Aaron Judge they received in the regular season. However, that has not been an issue in the playoffs for them.

Giancarlo Stanton has been the standout performer in the playoffs, boasting a .368 batting average with two home runs, five RBIs, and three runs scored.

Juan Soto has also been impressive in the playoffs, hitting .353 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored.

Gleyber Torres completes the trio of top playoff performers, despite a .211 batting average, he has a solid .400 on-base percentage and has contributed with a home run, three RBIs, and five runs scored.

So far in the playoffs, the Yankees as a team are hitting .218 with five home runs and 19 runs scored in five games. Despite not hitting the best, they have only lost one game.

The Guardians will be sending out Tanner Bibee to the mound today, and the Yankees lineup has actually hit him pretty well. The lineup has had a total of 17 career at-bats against Tanner Bibee, hitting .353 against him.

Anthony Volpe is one for three with a home run and an RBI, while Glyber Torres is 1-3 with a double. Additionally, six out of the eight players with an at-bat against Bibee have managed to secure a hit.

Guardians-Yankees Best Bet

The Guardians looked overwhelmed in the first game of this series. The Yankees generated answers at the plate when they needed them and received a fantastic performance from Carlos Rodon on the mound.

The Yankees have all the momentum and have their best pitcher Gerrit Cole on the mound today. Everything certainly seems to be falling their way.

Oddsmakers have favored the Yankees to the tune of -165 on the moneyline, which seems a bit steep but is understandable. The Guardians have been a great team this season and found answers whenever needed.

While it seems like the Yankees should easily win this one, the Guardians seem to be overlooked. They are +140 and up on the moneyline and I will back them to even this series today.

The best bet in this one is Guardians +140 on the moneyline.
