A 12-8 loss to the New York Yankees makes it four straight for the St. Louis Cardinals. With the Milwaukee Brewers running away with the NL Central, the Cardinals' current losing streak has come with additional unfortunate news.
A Top 15 prospect is being called up prior to the team's series finale. However, that news comes with an injury update.
The Cardinals are set to go on the road for six games in Florida. They'll play three in Miami and three in Tampa Bay against opponents with a similar record as themselves. Ultimately, one of their top prospects has a chance to make an immediate impact.
Victor Scott's attempt to rob Aaron Judge's home run didn't go according to plan. The Cardinals' center fielder is heading to the 10-Day IL, the team announced (via Katie Woo).
St. Louis wasted no time immediately putting Nathan Church in their starting lineup. The franchise's #14 ranked prospect will wear No. 27, according to the team.
A left ankle sprain is the official verdict on Scott. The 24-year-old played 53 games with St. Louis last season before increasing his total to 116 this year. His 2.3 WAR is vastly different compared to the -0.5 he put out last season.
The #STLCards will place Victor Scott II (left ankle sprain) on the 10 day IL. Nathan Church has been selected from Memphis. He will be in the starting lineup, making his major-league debut. https://t.co/lX4BdQwko6

Through 116 games, Scott sports a .223 batting average. His .623 OPS is up from the .502 it was last season. With a larger sample size, the outfielder has been able to settle in and begin to find his place on the team.
Scott hit .259 in the month of April. His average has decreased every month since. After hitting just .162 last month, his August average was back up to .200. With Scott seeming to get back on track, the ankle injury will put a hault to his 2025 campaign.
Church joins the Cardinals' lineup after hitting .329 in his 347 minor league at-bats this season. The 2022 11th round pick has played in A, AA, and AAA this season. His rise to the top has been incredible after finishing in AA last season.
Welcome to the Show, Nathan!

We have selected the contract of outfielder Nathan Church from Memphis (AAA). He will wear number 27. pic.twitter.com/hrcoF5KTRO
215 of his 347 at-bats have come in Memphis, the Cardinals Triple-A affiliate. Church has seven home runs and 30 RBIs at the AAA level. His plate discipline is second to none as he's struck out 25 times but has drawn 24 walks.
After recording a .943 OPS in Double-A, Church kept that total on track in Memphis. The 25-year-old's number sits at .921 as he'll look to match those numbers in the big leagues.
