The St. Louis Cardinals have finally made a roster move that fans have been anticipating.
The club announced it has recalled right-handed pitcher Michael McGreevy from Triple-A Memphis and in a corresponding move, fellow right-hander Roddery Muñoz was optioned back to Memphis after spending just one day on the big-league roster.

McGreevy, 24, made a strong impression during his brief stint in the majors last season, posting a 1.96 ERA and 0.78 WHIP over 23 innings across three starts and one relief appearance.
Standing 6-foot-4, the former first-round pick out of California had also generated buzz during spring training, where he delivered a 1.08 ERA across 16.2 innings, striking out 12 and issuing just one walk. Despite that, he didn’t crack the Opening Day roster.
His 2025 numbers in Memphis have been less eye-popping, as McGreevy owns a 4.08 ERA through 28.2 innings pitched.
Nevertheless, Cardinals manager Oli Marmol described the move as one made for "protection." McGreevy could be used in a flexible role depending on the performance of the rotation or potential weather issues during the current series against the New York Mets.
MLB.com’s John Denton added a lighthearted note, reporting that McGreevy had just gotten out of a movie Friday night when he received the call. He quickly packed his things and hit the road Saturday morning.

While fans are excited to see Michael McGreevy back with the big-league club, that enthusiasm may be brief as his stint is likely to be short-lived.
The Cardinals still view him as a crucial depth piece in Triple-A, making this recall more about flexibility than a permanent promotion.
Still, the move sparked plenty of reaction on 'X' (formerly Twitter), where fans expressed their eagerness to see McGreevy get more opportunities.
“Oh my oh my. This is great! Now start him,” one fan posted.
Another simply wrote, “FINALLLYY,” showing the collective anticipation for the 24-year-old to have a larger role in St. Louis.
The Cardinals are set to host the Mets on Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium in the second game of their three-game series.
