The St. Louis Cardinals have out-performed expectations so far this season. Shortstop Masyn Winn has played a crucial role in their success. The 2025 Gold Glove winner is continuing to make an impact on defense while also hitting .255/.331/.353 across 41 games. According to manager Oliver Marmol, Winn is dealing with a knee injury concern, however.
On Tuesday, Jeff Jones shared a report on X, formerly Twitter.
“Marmol told reporters that Masyn Winn is currently undergoing an MRI on his left knee. ‘We just want to make sure that it’s fine if he wants to go day to day and as tolerated, but that we’re not pushing through anything structural.’ (Surgery last year was on the right.)”
The Cardinals are proceeding with caution. They want to make sure that Winn will not risk further injury by playing through the knee concern.
Updates on Masyn Winn’s injury status will be provided as they are made available.
As mentioned, the Cardinals have played well overall in 2026. The ball club has been rebuilding, yet they look like a contender at the moment. St. Louis is currently 27-19 and in third place in the National League Central standings. The Cardinals are one game behind the Chicago Cubs for first place and a half-game behind the Milwaukee Brewers for second place in the NL Central.
On Tuesday night, the Cardinals will host the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates have also upset expectations at 24-23 overall, the contest will likely be competitive. First pitch for the Cardinals and Pirates clash is scheduled for 7:45 PM EST.
