Cardinals Predicted to 'Crash and Burn' in 2025

If you're a St. Louis Cardinals fan looking for the team to make waves in the National League Central in 2025, it might be time to temper your expectations.

While things were improved from a dreadful 71-91 record in 2023 by going 83-79 in the postseason it doesn't seem like the Cardinals have done the requisite work in the offseason to go back to the postseason, which they've missed the last 2 years.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller is down enough on the Cardinals to put the franchise on a list of teams doomed to "crash and burn" in 2025. According to Miller, the Cardinals seem like a team firmly rooted in rebuilding mode.

Not great news for 2025.

"For all intents and purposes, they have the exact same roster that they had four months ago, neither embracing the rebuild they publicly said they would be embracing, nor making any effort to chase an NL Central title which is still kind of there for the taking, Miller wrote. "... Telling your fans you're building for the future and then not actually doing anything to improve either the present or the future is just bizarre."

One player who could be traded sooner than later is third baseman Nolan Arenado, who is due $26 million in salary in 2025.
