Carlos Carrasco seems to be following the Jesse Chavez blueprint. He’s been designated for assignment a half-dozen times already this season and always finds his way back. After electing free agency just yesterday, he’s now rejoined the Braves active roster.

Carlos Carrasco to the major league roster.— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) June 2, 2026
Carrasco has made seven appearances for the Braves over the last two seasons, all in mop-up duty. However, he’s been reasonably effective in that role this year, posting a 2.45 ERA over 7.1 innings.
We may or may not see him in the upcoming series against the Blue Jays — but if we do, somebody is winning by five or more runs. Within the next week, he’ll likely be designated for assignment again to make room for a fresh arm, only to resurface a few days later. It’s an endless cycle, but there are worse veterans to have on standby when you need someone to eat innings. It’s a good thing he hasn’t found a new home.
