According to Baseball Reference, the Chicago Cubs are playing like one of the best teams in Major League Baseball and currently have the best odds to win the World Series. The Cubs are coming off one of the hardest schedules in the league where they went 12-8 against some of the top teams in the National League.

The Cubs have been propelled to being one of the best teams thanks to their offense, which has had a handful of players who have had strong Aprils, and their pitching staff, who has held their own since Justin Steele went down. The Cubs have had a handful of players contribute to their success with Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong leading the crew.

The Chicago Cubs claim MLB’s first Player of the Month

With the first month of baseball in the books the Cubs have claimed this year’s first Player of the Month with Crow-Armstrong beating out both Kyle Tucker and Carson Kelly for the honor. During April, he hit .312/.340/.613 for an OPS of .953. He also finished the month with six home runs, 21 RBI, and an fWAR of 1.9.

“An All-Star type month from PCA”

Overall in 31 games played, PCA is hitting .275/.315/.525 with an OPS and OPS+ of .840 and 134.

PCA’s opening numbers could signal he is on an All-Star pace and have a breakout season. Having a breakout season is what PCA needs, with this being his third year in the league and rumors of a contract extension being in the works with the team.

If PCA can keep up this pace, he should be able to join a few of his teammates at this season’s midsummer classic.
