The Chicago Cubs are set to host the annual Cubs Con convention this weekend in the city but before the festivities start, the franchise had some news. The Cubs introduced their new alternate uniforms and they appear to be a hit amongst fans.
The new uniforms were revealed on Thursday, going back to that classic powder blue color for the first time since 1981. This will replace the Cubs City Connect uniforms that they have worn the past few seasons.
This uniform change will feature new patches, logos, and lettering that all pay tribute to the electric blues movement that originated in Chicago.
The Cubs blues alternate jerseys will feature a chest patch that merges details from previous uniforms worn during the blues-era as well as incorporating inspiration from music instrument brands. Numbers and nameplates will be custom to blues-era typography. The sleeve patch features a guitar pick with “CHICAGO” written in it and a red, Chicago star located in the middle. The guitar pick will be split by an electric bolt. Lastly, the socks will pay tribute to the iconic blues anthem “Sweet Home Chicago” and feature a six-string guitar type.

According to Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribute, the blues alternate jerseys will be worn during select home games and they are replacing the Wrigleyville city connect uniforms.
Chris Creamer of SportsLogos indicated that they will be worn for the first time on April 5, 2025 when the Cubs host the San Diego Padres. Uniforms will also be available for purchase at Cubs Convention this week.
