Baseball is upon us as Opening Day is right around the corner . Several teams are making roster changes, and the Chicago White Sox happened to be one. The White Sox want to get back in the race after having a couple of miserable years.
The franchise signed Munetaka Murakami and is trying to compete in the division. While the playoffs still seem far-fetched, Chicago certainly has a better team than last year with their latest additions.
Recently, the franchise let go of four players ahead of Opening Day. Left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki, first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr., right-handed pitcher Austin Voth, and Lucas Sims are not on the team’s spring roster anymore.

All four players are now free agents after the White Sox’s decision. This came as a surprising move despite players like LaMonte Wade putting up strong numbers at the plate.
Last season was slightly better than 2024 for Chicago. While they did finish with a 60-102 record, they were not the last in the league. The White Sox will hope for a comeback as they enter a fresh start for 2026.
Chicago will have a tough competition with the Tigers, Guardians, and Twins. However, the franchise hopes things will change under the management of Will Venable. The club still has plenty of room for improvement and finished second-last in the league behind the Colorado Rockies with a 60-102 record.
It’s going to take a while for the team to rebuild and get back on track. The good news is that a few additions can make a change to the White Sox rotation. But can they still make the playoffs? That’s a long shot given the tough competition they have in the AL Central.
