The Milwaukee Brewers’ future looks bright as the club aims to maintain its momentum in 2026 and push for another trip to the NLCS.

In 2025, Milwaukee finished with the best record in the National League while holding firm atop the NL Central.

A major factor in that success was the resurgence of left-handed slugger Christian Yelich, who shifted into more designated hitter duties than in years past and saw the move pay off at the plate.

The 34-year-old veteran delivered an excellent eighth season in Milwaukee, posting a .264 batting average, .343 on-base percentage and .795 OPS.

He added 29 home runs and 103 RBIs across 150 games, production that earned him a 12th-place finish in National League MVP voting.

As the Brewers shift their attention to the 2026 season, the club announced the final additions to manager Pat Murphy’s coaching staff.

Among them is recently retired slugger Daniel Vogelbach, who will serve as a hitting coach. Vogelbach spent two seasons as Yelich’s teammate from 2020–21 in Milwaukee and now returns to the organization in a new role.

Yelich welcomed the move on social media, posting a message to his former teammate and now colleague. “Welcome home Vogey! ” Yelich wrote on X.

Moments like this underscore Yelich’s central role in Milwaukee, not only as the team’s most accomplished player but also as its leader and public face.

His connection with teammates, his longevity in the organization and his consistent production at the plate have made him the defining figure of the Brewers franchise.

Christian Yelich Remains Central to Brewers' Championship Pursuit

Yelich’s career did not begin in Milwaukee, as he made his MLB debut with the Miami Marlins in 2013.

He joined the Brewers ahead of the 2018 season and immediately made his mark, winning the National League MVP and helping lead Milwaukee to the NLCS in his first year with the club.

His contract with the Brewers is a nine-year extension worth $215 million, signed in March 2020, which remains the largest in franchise history.

Since arriving in Milwaukee, Yelich has earned three All-Star selections and two Silver Slugger Awards.

While he has not consistently reached the same peaks he did before signing the extension, his presence has been invaluable to a small-market franchise, and fans continue to embrace him as the face of the team.

Yelich still remains in search of delivering a World Series title to Milwaukee, and he will have another chance to pursue that goal in 2026.
