Cincinnati Reds ninth-round draft pick Kien Vu did not have a single hit during his first week as a professional for the Daytona Tortugas. In his second week, he went on to win the Florida State League Player of the Week award.
Vu would go 0-10 in his first five games in Daytona. The only way he would reach base in those five games was when he was hit by a pitch on August 10th. He would flip the script all the way around the following week. From August 12-17, Vu posted a .467 average, with six doubles, six RBIs, a .600 OBP, and slugged .867.
The 21-year-old outfielder would slash .354/.458/.601 in his final season at Arizona State with a 1.059 OPS. He would hit 10 home runs with 21 stolen bases.
One week ago, Kien Vu didn't have a professional hit. Well, now he has several of them and an FSL Player of the Week crown!
