MLB Game Recap

The Reds lost to the Phillies 5-4. Bryson Stott hit a decisive two-out, go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Starter Nick Lodolo pitched 5.2 innings. He allowed three earned runs on three hits. He also had three strikeouts and a career-high five walks on 97 pitches (53 strikes). The bullpen surrendered two runs over 2.2 innings without recording a strikeout, failing to protect a short-lived 4-3 lead provided by Spencer Steer’s eighth-inning RBI double.

Standout Performer

Infielder Sal Stewart led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run, one RBI, and two runs scored. His 361-foot blast to right field in the seventh inning tied the game at three. It marked his 11th home run of the season. Stewart’s performance was a positive sign for the rookie, who entered the night looking to snap a recent cold stretch.
