Minor League shortstop Peyton Holt was suspended for 80 games on Wednesday by Major League Baseball after he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. The substance he tested positive for was GW1516, according to ESPN.com.
The Reds released him on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old played in 43 games for Low-A Daytona, slashing .151/.287/.252 with six extra-base hits and four stolen bases.
Holt played collegiately at the University of Arkansas and slashed .345/.438/.531 with 19 extra-base hits and 12 stolen bases across two seasons.
