Cody Ponce suffered a bad injury during his debut for the Toronto Blue Jays. Ponce was carted off the field while pitching against the Colorado Rockies. It was indeed a blow for the Blue Jays after the signed Ponce during the offseason last year.
The pitcher pitched only 2 plus innings and was visibly in pain. Ponce went out after hurting his knee, but the latest update by Blue Jays manager John Schneider could bring grim news for fans. While he’s still being evaluated, it appears that Cody Ponce sprained his right ACL.

Sadly, the pitcher will miss significant time as doctors are checking his MRI to figure out if he suffered a full tear. The incident occurred when Ponce was running on the field to get a ground ball during the third inning against the Rockies.
Schneider told reporters that Ponce is under observation, and it still needs to be determined if he will need surgery. Fans and management hope that it doesn’t come to that. As for Cody Ponce, Schneider says that he’s frustrated but handling it well.

“I talked to him for a while last night, up until about 1 in the morning,” Schneider said. “He’s got a pretty good perspective. He’s frustrated, for sure, but I think he has a good perspective on it. The person in me just hates it for him. His first outing, weird play, all of that. But he’s handling it OK. He was in here with his brother-in-law today, George Kittle.”
Cody Ponce is starting out again after he stepped away from the league. The pitcher is looking for redemption, but this injury could push him back again. It could take at least a month for Ponce to return to the Blue Jays’ starting rotation.
