Congratulations Pour In for Francisco Lindor After Mets’ Announcement on Friday

The MLB season is winding down, and the drama over the next three days is set to be astronomical—especially for the New York Mets, who are heading on the road to face a Miami Marlins team determined to knock one of their division rivals out of the playoff picture.

New York holds a one-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds for the final NL Wild Card spot. However, the Mets do not own the tiebreaker, so if the Reds and Mets finish with the same record on Sunday, Cincinnati would claim the final berth, and New York would miss the playoffs in dramatic fashion despite having one of the highest payrolls in all of baseball.

Nonetheless, the Mets are coming off an 8–5 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, and ahead of their final series of the regular season, the team announced historic news about star shortstop Francisco Lindor.

Lindor officially joined Mets legend Howard Johnson as the only players in franchise history to record 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in multiple seasons.

Congratulations poured in for Lindor after making Mets history:

"Nice job Lindy! Congrats! Now lead us to the promised land! PLAYOFFS," a fan said.

Someone else added, "My childhood fave [Howard Johnson] & and my son's fave [Francisco Lindor]."

Another person wrote, "We got a lot more years of Mr. Smile too. Congrats."

"It's amazing to see players make history like this," one more fan commented.

In 634 at-bats this season, Lindor is batting .267 with 169 hits, 30 home runs, 84 RBIs, 115 runs scored, and 31 stolen bases.

Since joining the Mets in 2021, Lindor has hit 20 or more home runs in each of his five seasons with the team and has recorded three consecutive 30-plus home run seasons. Yet, this is the only season he has earned an All-Star nod with New York.
