The New York Yankees' postseason run came to an end in a 3-1 ALDS defeat to the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Yankees finished the regular season with the same record as the Blue Jays, 94-68, but the Blue Jays won the AL East and earned the top seed in the American League due to a tiebreaker.
Star pitcher Max Fried, who signed an eight-year deal worth $218 million last December, was excellent for the Yankees.
The former Atlanta Braves star pitcher went 19-5 with a 2.86 ERA in the regular season. In the playoffs, he made two starts, but he went just three innings and gave up seven runs in his final postseason start in a Game 2 loss to the Blue Jays.
On Wednesday, the MLB announced this year's Gold Glove Award finalists. Fried was a finalist for the American League alongside Jacob deGrom of the Texas Rangers and Luis Severino of the Athletics.
The Yankees wasted no time reacting to the news and offered up congratulations to Fried.
