Corbin Carroll talks community, outlook on Diamondbacks’ 2026 season at Playmakers Classic

The Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder attended the fourth annual Playmakers Classic, hosted by the Major League Baseball Players Trust — the charitable arm of the MLBPA. The event brought together current and former players for an evening of competition and philanthropy in downtown Phoenix.

A silent auction included autographed bats from Aaron Judge and Derek Jeter, a Tom Brady autographed helmet, and tickets to the 2026 MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby. Proceeds support youth sports and educational programs nationwide through the Players Trust, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1996.

“It’s awesome,” Carroll said when asked what it meant for him to be part of the night. “The Players Trust does great work and I’m just happy to play a small part.”

The night also carried anticipation for the 2026 season, as the Diamondbacks prepare for their first Spring Training game on Friday. After adding new faces and saying goodbye to others, Arizona is looking to return to the postseason for the first time since its 2023 World Series run, having missed the playoffs the past two seasons.

For Carroll, he wants to take the season one day at a time and see where the team can go.

“There’s plenty of talent in that clubhouse,” he said. “I just hope we can come together and put a good product on the field.”

The All-Star will not participate in many Spring Training games due to injury after breaking the hamate bone in his right hand on a foul ball last week. However, he isn’t expected to miss much time and may be ready for Opening Day.

With the regular season approaching, Carroll has made it clear that his work in the community continues to be important — and so is helping his team get back to where it wants to be in 2026.

The Diamondbacks open Spring Training play against the Colorado Rockies on Friday, Feb. 20, at 1:10 p.m.
