Patrick Corbin turned in his best outing of the season, tossing eight scoreless innings, and Corey Seager hit his 20th homer as the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 on Tuesday night.

Corbin (7-9) scattered three hits, walked one, and struck out eight while improving to 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA against the Angels this season. It was his first win since July 10, which also came against Los Angeles.

Texas immediately jumped on Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi (6-9). Wyatt Langford drew a leadoff walk in the first, Seager followed with another, and Adolis García doubled in the opening run. Josh Jung added an RBI single, and Cody Freeman lifted a sacrifice fly to get a quick 3-0 lead.

The Rangers kept the pressure on in the second when Jonah Heim walked and rookie Michael Helman launched his second career homer to make it 5-0. Kyle Higashioka added a solo shot in the fourth, and Seager capped Texas’ scoring with a solo blast in the seventh off Sam Bachman.

The Angels didn’t break through until the ninth, when Zach Neto connected for his 23rd homer and Jo Adell followed with his career-high 30th, a two-run shot. But it was too little, too late, as Phil Maton recorded the final outs to seal the win.

Kikuchi lasted four innings, giving up six runs on four hits and three walks. The loss dropped Los Angeles to 3-8 in its last 11 games, while Texas climbed back to .500 at 67-67.

Key Moment:

After Neto doubled and advanced to third with one out in the first, Corbin calmly induced back-to-back groundouts from Taylor Ward and Adell to escape. From there, only one Angel reached scoring position the rest of his outing.

Key Stat:

Corbin has not missed a scheduled start in nine consecutive seasons, underscoring his durability.

Up Next:

The series wraps up Wednesday with Angels lefty Tyler Anderson (2-8, 4.73 ERA) slated to face a yet-to-be-named Rangers starter.
