MLB has sparked full-out debate wars over the City Connect jerseys that the league unveiled in recent years. The Chicago Cubs' first iteration of these jerseys featured a navy blue alternate with light blue and red detail throughout the uniform. In addition, the word "Wrigleyville" was arched across the front. It may have taken some time, but the jerseys became fairly accepted within the fanbase.
Entering 2025, it was time for a refresh. The Cubs were reported as one of the teams that would refresh their fun alternates, showcasing something new. On Thursday night, the eve of the team's annual Cubs Convention, the new alternates were unveiled. The Blues Alternate arrives at Wrigley Field.

The new look pays homage to the start of the Chicago blues in the early half of the 20th century. In addition, the logo, the font, and the baby blue color choice all nod to some of the spectacular elements within the Cubs' jersey history. The uniform tilts its metaphorical cap to elements of the city's flag, team history, and blues music in Chicago, creating a beautiful canvas for the Cubs.
With the exciting release, the jerseys will surely be featured heavily at the upcoming Cubs Convention. The annual event will not only celebrate the hope for a successful 2025 season but also turn the page to a new era of the team's history.
