Cubs Duo Joins Yankees Legends in MLB History

Alex Bregman and Pete Crow-Armstrong have put themselves in rare company, joining a group that includes two New York Yankees legends after a remarkable August for the Chicago Cubs.

According to OptaSTATS, Bregman and Crow-Armstrong became the first MLB teammates in 65 years to combine for at least 25 home runs, 25 walks, 50 RBIs and 50 runs scored in a calendar month. The last duo to accomplish the feat was Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle during their historic 1961 season.

The milestone came during an offensive explosion that has pushed the Cubs into a strong position heading into September.

Crow-Armstrong has been the breakout star of Chicago’s lineup this season. The 2026 campaign has seen him post a.282 batting average with 38 home runs, 91 RBIs and 100 runs scored through 138 games.

The center fielder has also added a.376 on-base percentage, a.949 OPS and 32 stolen bases, giving the Cubs a rare combination of power and speed at the top of their lineup.

Bregman has provided the veteran presence alongside him. In his first season with Chicago, the third baseman is batting .258 with 23 home runs, 77 RBIs and 80 runs scored across 135 games.

Bregman also delivered a huge performance in Monday’s 17-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, launching three home runs and driving in four runs. That performance helped cap an extraordinary offensive stretch for the Cubs.

Chicago enters September with a 78-60 record, sitting seven games behind the 85-53 Brewers in the NL Central. The St. Louis Cardinals are third at 68-70, 17 games behind Milwaukee.

With Crow-Armstrong’s breakout season and Bregman’s veteran production driving the lineup, the Cubs have established themselves as a serious postseason threat. Their latest achievement now places them alongside one of baseball’s most famous teammate combinations.
