Cubs fans line up outside bar at 5:30 am before Game 3

The Chicago Cubs are hosting their first World Series game in 71 years Friday night, and fans who are preparing for Game 3 have thrown the whole “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” thing out the window. In fact, many have them have adopted a new mantra for the weekend.

It’s 5 a.m. somewhere.

As you’ve likely heard by now, some bars outside Wrigley Field are charging $250 just to get in the door on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That may have inspired some Cubs fans to stay home, but others lined up outside bars at 5:30 a.m. Friday morning and were guzzling beer while the rest of us were just rolling out of bed.

It’s safe to say people are excited. How they’re going to still be on their feet at 8 p.m. when the first pitch is thrown is anyone’s guess.

Cubs fans are passionate and creative (did you see what one of them did for Trevor Bauer?), and the bars in Wrigleyville are taking full advantage of that. It’s going to be a fun weekend in Chicago.
