The Chicago Cubs feature one of the most talented lineups in the league, with Kyle Tucker at the center of it. After dropping Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers, Tucker and the Cubs will look to even the series on Monday before heading back to Wrigley Field.
Tucker is in his first season with Chicago after being traded in the offseason from the Houston Astros. Aside from a disappointing month of July, Tucker put together a solid regular season for the Cubs, owning a .266 batting average, .377 on-base percentage, .841 OPS, 22 home runs and 25 stolen bases.
Tucker’s availability was uncertain as the postseason approached due to a left calf injury, but he has appeared in all four games so far.
As the Cubs prepare to face Milwaukee on Monday looking to avoid a 2–0 series deficit, Tucker took to Instagram to announce a gesture for fans ahead of Game 3. Tucker’s foundation shared a giveaway for Cubs fans looking to attend the first home game of the NLDS.
“It’s giveaway time again! We’re giving away 4 tickets to Game 3 of the NLDS as the Cubs take on the Brewers this Wednesday, October 8th! To enter: Follow @kyletuckerfoundation + @ktuck_30. Tag 3 friends you want to cheer with at Wrigley! Winner will be announced tomorrow at 6:00pm CT right here on this post and in our story—don’t miss your chance to be part of the postseason energy at Wrigley! A huge thank you to @cubscharities for their continued support of our mission,” wrote Tucker’s foundation on Instagram.
Tucker started his foundation to “raise awareness and provide support for hospice care programs, while also giving back to other meaningful causes in the community,” the website says.
The website continues to explain Tucker was motivated by a personal family experience. In 2021, his grandfather passed away under hospice care—a period that deeply affected his family. The compassion, dignity and comfort they witnessed during those final days left a lasting impression, inspiring Tucker and his family to give back and help other families receive the same level of support.
With fans rallying behind Tucker’s giveaway and postseason push, the Cubs will need his bat to respond in Game 2 against Milwaukee. Tucker may be playing in his only season with the Cubs, as he is set to hit unrestricted free agency in the offseason and will likely receive a long-term, high AAV (average annual value) deal.
