Former Chicago Cubs MVP Sammy Sosa appeared in the dugout for the team's Spring Training contest on Tuesday, providing swing tips to young players.
Clips of Sosa in the dugout were circulated on X during the Cubs' game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, where he appeared to be giving hitting tips to players like Vidal Brujan and Kevin Alcantara.

In his next at-bat after talking withs Sosa, Brujan launched a deep home run to right field. The 27-year-old has just 5 big-league home runs in 550 plate appearances.

After years of unofficial banishment from the organization, it's nice to see Sosa come back to the team and embrace a mentorship role. Although Sosa's playing career was likely fueled by steroid use, like many of the MLB players of his era, he was one of the most prolific sluggers of the 1990s and early 2000s. He still holds the team record for most home runs with 545 and is third in RBIs with 1414.
The former outfielder also holds the team's single-season record for the most home runs with 66 in 1998, the same year he took home the National League MVP award.
Sosa made his official return to the organization at the Cubs Convention last month, where he was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame alongside his former teammate Derek Lee. 2025 is the first time Cubs fans have been able to enjoy highlights from Sosa's 13 years in Chicago, the majority of his 18-year playing career.
Sosa expanded on his day at Sloan Park with Marquee Sports Network's Taylor McGregor, revealing what current players ask him the most.

It will be interesting to see what Alcantara takes away from Sosa's lessons, as he is also a right-handed slugger with big home run potential.
Sosa joins an impressive list of former Cubs stars who have shown up to help the team this Spring Training, including Fergie Jenkins, Rick Sutcliffe, and Ryne Sandberg.
