Chicago Cubs fans won’t get to see Pete Crow-Armstrong in the Home Run Derby this season, but that does not mean it won’t happen in the future. According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the star outfielder will not participate in the ’26 event if asked. However, he is leaving the door open to participate down the road.
“HR Derby news out of Wrigley: Similiar to last year, Pete Crow-Armstrong says he’s not going to participate if asked. Said he will someday. He has 10 home runs in June, third most in MLB,” Rogers reported on Tuesday.
Crow-Armstrong has been playing well in recent action, especially when it comes to hitting the long ball. The Cubs are also beginning to find more consistency after struggling earlier in the season. Crow-Armstrong’s performance is a big reason why they have been able to bounce back.
The 24-year-old is hitting .284/.372/.509 across 85 games played. He has 17 home runs overall to go along with 13 doubles, four triples and 20 stolen bases. PCA may not participate in the Home Run Derby this year, but he is on track to travel to Philadelphia in the middle of July for his second career MLB All-Star Game.
Crow-Armstrong and the Cubs (47-38, second place in NL Central) are set to play the San Diego Padres (43-40, second place in NL West) on Tuesday night. Chicago is looking to clinch a series win after earning a 3-2 victory on Monday. The second contest of the three-game series on Tuesday night is scheduled for 8:05 PM EST at Wrigley Field.
